appkit

Most users left without doing anything

I set up Google Analytics when I launched appkit. And I've been checking it every day since.

GA4 report overview - 91 active users, 82.1% bounce rate

91 active users. 89 new users. 8 seconds average engagement. 82.1% bounce rate.

Almost 100 people showed up in just a few days. That was exciting. But most of them left without creating a single image.

When I was building services for other companies, I never worried about this stuff.

Why 82% left in 8 seconds

82% bouncing in 8 seconds told me one thing: appkit didn't have a clear enough identity.

"Why did they leave?" "What did they see?" "What did the first screen make them feel?"

It went global

The country breakdown surprised me.

Active users by country - US 28, South Korea 19, France 7

US 28, South Korea 19, France 7, Germany 5, Saudi Arabia 5. Over 70% were English-speaking users.

People are showing up. But they stay about 8 seconds and leave.

So I decided to put real examples on the landing page. Show what you can actually create with appkit's templates, using well-known apps as references.

appkit landing page before - Example 1,2,3,4 placeholders

Instagram, X, ChatGPT, Duolingo. Their store screenshots aren't that fancy either. They all just show "this is what you get" upfront. I'm making appkit do the same. So users can see what they can create the moment they land.

appkit landing page after - real app screenshot examples applied

What I'm changing now

  1. Adding real store screenshot examples to the landing page
  2. Showing "you can make this" instead of generic placeholders
  3. Starting SEO setup so people can find appkit through search

Searching "app store screenshot maker" in Korean returns almost no tool recommendations. That's an empty space.

The goal: people find appkit through search, understand it in seconds, and start using it.
